  Public sector relocation
The report by Sir Michael Lyons in 2004 set out a new way of thinking towards public service reform throughout the UK, which included the proposed relocation of 20,000 jobs outside of London and the South East of England.

Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole are committed to supporting the relocation of public sector organisations that are identified within this review. With a strong working relationship with the OGC (Office of Government Commerce) we are able to deliver a service that fully understands the issues faced by Government departments, agencies and non-departmental public bodies.

  Cefas

Located within the South West of England the area is more than capable of offering not only a skilled workforce but also a diverse and cost-effective range of property solutions and a lifestyle that is second to none. We have proactively worked to raise our profile nationally with events attended by senior civil service managers and their agents.

Land Registry at Weymouth   The area already has a significant public sector presence with the Department for Work and Pensions, HM Revenue & Customs and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) all represented. These and other public service organisations (listed below) contribute to employing 28 % of the area’s workforce.  We have also successfully supported the relocation of 150 HM Revenue & Customs posts.
  • Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS)
  • South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA)
